Em Habanim is a
voluntary organization, which was established
in 1992 with the goal of providing support and
guidance for widowed and divorced mothers and their children
in the Jerusalem area.
Single-parent families all over the world struggle with many
difficult situations - financial, social and personal. There
is also a certain social stigma in Israel towards women who
bring up their children alone, and are left to cope by
themselves with the extra responsibility of their Torah
education.
We are the only organization in the religious community
offering social support and welfare programs, with the help
of our professional staff, to the women and their children,
of all ages.
Hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of families are waiting to join
our organization in order to offer their children a better
chance in life. The cost is enormous - we can only accept
them when we have the funds.
